AI

Q: Do I need to pay for AI features? InkCop itself costs about RMB 1 per day. Your subscription includes a certain amount of token usage. If you reach the token limit during the subscription period, you can renew the subscription, or configure your own LLM provider API key and pay the provider based on token usage. Some options, such as local Ollama deployment, are completely free.

Q: Which LLM provider do you recommend? Best value: DeepSeek. Best overall experience: Claude 4 Sonnet or GPT-4o. Completely free: models with free quotas on OpenRouter.

Q: What should I do if AI responses are slow? Check your network connection, try a lighter model such as GPT-4o-mini or Qwen3-flash, or verify that your hardware is sufficient for local models.

Knowledge Base

Q: Does it support literature databases other than PubMed and arXiv? It currently mainly integrates PubMed and arXiv. You can access other academic resources through AI web search.

Q: Does vectorization require an internet connection? Yes. Vectorization needs to call an Embedding API service. If you use an Ollama local Embedding model, it can be done offline.

Q: How can I improve knowledge base search quality? Use high-quality Embedding models, make sure the document content is complete and well formatted, organize the knowledge base by topic, and enable knowledge graph-assisted retrieval.

Editor

Q: Does the editor support Word/PDF export? The editor supports exporting in inkx, Markdown, docx, and PDF formats. If you are sharing documents with other InkCop users, we recommend the native inkx format. It supports encrypted export and fully preserves annotations, citations and their verification information, plagiarism-check information, and visual reports.

Q: How do I recover deleted content? Auto-snapshots keep the last 10 versions. You can restore earlier versions from the document version history.

System

Q: Is my data safe? All data is stored locally and is not uploaded to the cloud, except for conversation content sent when calling AI APIs. Local models can run completely offline.

Q: Does it support multiple languages? The InkCop interface supports six languages: Chinese, English, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese. You can switch languages in Settings > System > Base Settings.
